Company Formation: Corporate Directors

Company Formation

When completing your new company formation it is possible to have another company as one of the directors of the new company, if you wish to do so.

Since October 2008 it has been necessary for all new company formations to have at least one natural director (a real person).  This is so that there is always one individual who can be held responsible for any actions that the company takes. Therefore if you want to appoint another company as a director of your new company formation, you must ensure that you also appoint a real person or your application will be rejected.

Existing companies that do not have a human director must have appointed one by 1st October 2008 if they were formed after 8th November 2006 or before 1st October 2010 if they were formed before 8th November 2006. Companies that do not comply with this rule will be liable to a fine, plus daily default fines.
