Step Four of Ten – Create your Website

Many newly formed limited companies will need a website to advertise their products or services to potential customers.  It’s important that you consider your online presence early after you incorporation so that you are sure you have everything in place and so that the development process can begin.

The first thing after your company formation to consider is the website URL (web address).  This should be reserved as early on in the company’s life as possible to ensure that when your website is ready to use, you have the URL you need.  This process can be completed before or after the company is formed to ensure that you get the one most suited to you business or trading name For example a company named Smith Shop Limited may want to have the URL www.smithshop.co.uk .  If it is already taken then you may be unable to do so, in that instance you may even want to think of a different name for your company if your website is particularly important in your line of business. Having a web address that is different to your company name can mean that customers can’t find you when they want to.

Developing a website can be a lengthy and time consuming process and most companies will hire an external agency to help with this.  Getting the website built and in place will often take weeks or even months and therefore you are often best advised to get the process going as soon as practically possible.
